Sean A. Maltais is pleased to announce his candidacy for election to the Board of Selectmen. Sean is currently completing his third term as a Town Meeting member in Precinct Six.

He has served the town tirelessly for many years and he has always brought a level of professionalism and thoroughness to every task that he has undertaken. Being a member of the Board of Selectmen is an important position that requires a qualified, committed, experienced and effective person – Sean Maltais is such a person.

Sean is qualified. The town of Saugus is a $70 million dollar per year enterprise and running it requires strong management and financial skills. His financial and professional experience enables him to effectively contribute to the management and oversight of the operation of the town, as well as understand and anticipate the fiscal effects of any policy decisions that come before the Board.

Sean is committed. Sean and his wife Lauren live on Adams Ave. and they are raising their four children, Marissa, Savannah, Gabriella and Lylah. Sean has been a strong supporter of the Saugus School Department and his oldest daughter is now attending kindergarten at the Waybright. Sean is the only candidate with a child in the Saugus school system and he has the same vested interest in our schools as you and I. Saugus is his home and he is committed to making, maintaining and improving the town as a great place to live and raise a family.

Sean is experienced. Having served as a Town Meeting member for 6 years Sean has tremendous experience with the intricacies of municipal government. He has reviewed budgets, handled and responded to innumerable concerns and requests addressed to him by residents regarding many facets of town government and town services.

Sean is effective. His accomplishments are many – ranging from large projects such as replacing the Saugus High school fence, that sat in a dilapidated state for more than a decade or co-signing the amendment that helped re-certify our Library, to smaller projects such as proactively seeking additional funding to pave Lincoln Ave correctly or voting in favor of funding for handicap accessibility for our sidewalks. His experience and institutional knowledge also help him to anticipate future issues and institute remedies to address them in a reasoned and fiscally responsible manner. He is committed to maintaining town services without unduly burdening the taxpayer and Sean’s innovative and proactive vision will be a valuable resource in the town’s ongoing effort to stay ahead of the fiscal curve.

Sean has never been afraid of tackling a problem or trying to be part of the solution. He learned early on that it is impossible to make everyone happy all of the time but you can be confident that he will always give an honest effort and his decisions are always predicated on what is in the best interest of the town. He has demonstrated the ability to effectively work with all parties and viewpoints in a respectful and forthright manner in order to keep Saugus moving in the right direction.

He has the qualifications, has demonstrated his commitment, gained the experience and proven his effectiveness as a Town Meeting member. He would be honored for the opportunity to serve the town as a member of the Board of Selectmen.

On Tuesday November 8th. please cast your vote for Sean A. Maltais, Board of Selectmen.
