My name is Sean A. Maltais and I reside in a modest home on Adams Ave with my wife and 3 lovely daughters. I have been a Town Meeting member for the past 4 years now. I am running for Selectman because I feel the town is lacking in long range planning initiatives, which could position us to be more financially stable, or even increase our residential and business property values, attract new businesses and jobs to town, and strengthen our schools. I’m running because with Saugus facing continued tough economic times we need leadership, which understands that we are, all the same team. In this spirit, I will bring to the table my ability to bridge differences of opinion and to get things done. A Selectman must remember whom he works for. I believe the values of good sportsmanship, common sense and a willingness to listen, will help restore a spirit of cooperation to a fragmented board and sometimes divided town. There is also a growing concern today about cutting back and controlling spending. Looking at the budget and finding places of inadequacy are paramount for the future. Saugus needs a Selectman who can bring accountability, and advocacy to the board. We have a tremendous opportunity to create a present and a future that will benefit all of us, not a selected few. What is lacking is vision and creative problem solving skills to make that happen. Old political answers are no longer applicable to our fast paced society. While I don’t pretend to have all the answers , I know that my various experiences have qualified me to find creative solutions based on sound judgement and not political convenience. |
